Many Thanks to Krista Sperba-Held from grass creative for graphic design and printing and StonyBrook Millstome Watershed Assn. for a generous grant to help fund this work. If you need a quantity of brochures let us know and we'll be glad to send them to you.
| Educational signs in Shark River Hills
SRCC in cooperation with the Neptune Environmental Commission, and the NJ Marine Science Consortium helped develop and install 4 educational signs that were installed on Earth Day along S. Riverside Dr in Shark River Hills section of Neptune. These signs bring attention to some of the wildlife that can be viewed in Shark River Bay as well as some local history. Please take a momnet to enjoy the signs and the view.
| The mission of the Shark River Cleanup Coalition Inc. is to significantly enhance the water quality of the Shark River Estuary and its fresh water tributaries, to improve and protect habitats important to the conservation and abundance of the wildlife, to protect the recreational and commercial uses from degradation and pollution, thereby ensuring the ecology and economic stability of this important watershed. | | | Dear Subscriber,
You may not know that the Shark River Cleanup Coalition is hard at work year round to preserve, protect and improve the water quality in the Shark River Watershed. Our newsletter is a new way for us to keep you up to date on what we're doing to keep the Shark River clean.
| | SRCC Behind the Scenes
Maybe the only time you notice the Shark River Cleanup Coalition is when we do our river cleanups. Once in a while you may see us in the newspaper. Anyone reading this gets e mail from us. But there are many things that the Shark River Cleanup Coalition does behind the scenes in order to make sure that the river comes first. Every development that may impact water quality in the watershed is reviewed by the Coalitions experts to see where water quality is affected and how plans can be improved to lessen their impact. SRCC keeps in contact with elected officials in every municipality to make sure water quality laws are protected and enforced. The issue of dredging is still on everyone's mind and even though Wall Township has stalled efforts to implement the current Dredging Plan, SRCC is still working with stakeholders to find alternatives to dredge the channels and improve water quality. | Spring River Cleanup Update
The Shark River Cleanup Coalition held its spring river cleanup on Saturday May 9th in Neptune City. Kayakers and volunteers rallied at the Memorial Park Beach under bright sunny skies to fan out through the bay to collect trash and help keep the shores of Shark River Bay clean. In a few short hours these dedicated people filled a 30 yard dumpster with litter and trash which had washed into the bay. Thanks to Neptune Township for the dumpster, Neptune City for use of the picnic facilities, Kepwel Spring Water, CareOne at Wall and of course to Ben and Nancy Smith for the fabulous BBQ for everyone. And of course thank you to all the people who showed up to help. | | | Shark River Cleanup Coalition cannot do our work without the support of people like you. If you are a member we thank you for your support. If not, what are you waiting for? Please help us continue our important work.
Sincerely, Ed Lippincott Executive Director Shark River Cleanup Coalition | | |
