Board Member and Technical Advisor
Bill Sciarappa, Ph.D.
Dr. Bill Sciarappa is a founding member of the Shark River Cleanup Coalition (SRCC), where he has served since 2001, currently as a Board Member and Technical Advisor. Deeply involved in SRCC’s mission, he contributes to committees focused on cleanups, dredging, and water monitoring.
A faculty member at Rutgers University since 1999 in the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Sciarappa teaches courses on environmental issues and sustainable agriculture through the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS).
He has played a pivotal role in regional environmental initiatives, including serving on planning and monitoring committees for the Wreck Pond grant project. He has also worked with with the American Littoral Society's efforts in maritime forest restoration, living shorelines, and horseshoe crab tagging.
In recognition of his impact in environmental education, he received the 2013 NJ Governor's Environmental Excellence Award.
As Principal Investigator on a rain garden construction grant, Dr. Sciarrapa helped establish over 700 units across Monmouth County.
He also volunteers with Clean Ocean Action and has served on the Neptune City Green Team (2017-19, 2024-25).
